About The Old Port Medway Cemetery: (pictures below)
The Old Port Medway Cemetery (c. 1783) is registered as a Municipal Heritage Site, and this year became one of two Provincial Heritage Sites in Port Medway, the other being the Old Meeting House itself. The cemetery is managed and maintained by the Port Medway Cemeteries Committee, which recently received the consultant's report and plan of action from Heather Lawson, a Nova Scotian stone worker and specialist in gravestone maintenance and repair. The money raised through the Festival will be used for on-going maintenance, mapping, and documentation, as well as the implentation of the recommendations made in the Lawson Report.
